In ancient times the bond between a teacher and student was considered sacred. A mentor type relationship was how yoga was passed down from teacher to a student in training to become a teacher.

Of course, we have moved far away from that tradition.
Group trainings with specific required hours have become the norm.
While there is still often a focus on philosophy, actual character development has fallen to the wayside. The teacher’s seat holds a lot of responsibility. Not only should a teacher be knowledgable in anatomy, philosophy and teaching technique, a teacher needs to know and understand himself/herself/themself deeply.

Leading many group and one-on-one trainings over the years has reinforced my belief in the old school way of yoga study.

The study of yoga should include a daily yoga practice on the mat and committed study to yoga philosophy toward self-knowledge and betterment – all supported by a mentor who will challenge you to work hard and be your best self.
When a student commits to a regular practice and honest self-study, the teacher inside will naturally develop. It is less about memorization and reading from a script. It simply becomes sharing what you know from your own personal experience and practice – you drop the brain and teach more from your heart.

This training is designed to support my mentor style training and recreates the traditional yoga model.

While the in person training is completed over the course of the specified weeks, there will be self-study and practice requirements as well. This includes online course study, readying and writing assignments and participation in live (in the studio or via zoom) and prerecorded classes.

Having a regular daily practice is mandatory to transition from student to teacher. Therefore, based on my years of experience teaching and training others to teach, the main component of this program is a committed mat practice. You will be required to participate in a total of 50 yoga classes. Approximately 10 classes will take place during training weekends. You have 12 months from the first training session to complete your class practice requirement. At least 25 classes must be in person with Lyn. The remaining classes can be in person, live stream or from prerecorded classes uploaded to a private group via Vimeo.com.

Along with the guided practices, you will be required to practice on your own the power yoga sequence you are learning to teach. Every yoga teacher should have their own personal practice. This does not mean being led in a class, it means at home, on your mat, with only yourself guiding your practice.

A 12 month unlimited class pass – for studio or live stream and the prerecorded
classes– is included. It is activated when you pay in full.
