Summer Intensive – 6 Week Program

Monday thru Friday
(no training on 7/3 and 7/4)
Monday: 9:30 – 10:30 am group practice
Tuesday: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm group practice and training session
Wednesday: 9:30 am – 1 pm group practice and training session
Thursday: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm group practice and training session
Friday: 9:30 – 10:30 am group practice
Self-study and online assignments will be required throughout the 6 week program.
Expect to spend a few hours each week (on top of the scheduled training hours) reading, journaling, and reviewing/practicing the sequence on your own.

Are you interested in becoming a 500-hour certified yoga teacher?
When you sign up for the in-person training, you will receive 50% ($625) off the LKPY self-study, self-paced 300-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training course.
Complete your studies for the 200-hour, and then work towards your 500-hour certification.
You can begin at anytime – you determine your start date and there are no time restrictions for completing all the 300-hour requirements. When signing up for the 200-hour in-person training, choose the “Path to 500-Hour Certification” payment option.

The Lyn Kehoe Power Yoga School trains teachers in the power vinyasa style of yoga – a meditative, breath focused practice with philosophy weaved into the practice in a way that makes it relevant and understandable.
You will learn to lead a 75-90 minute all levels class while connecting ancient yoga philosophy with modern day to day life challenges in order to make it relatable to your students.

In the early days of yoga, the practice was passed down directly from teacher to student.
My mentor style yoga teacher training recreates this traditional yoga model.

This is s hybrid program that include both in-person training and self-study assignments that include viewing of online video tutorials w/quizzes, reading and written assignments. You will be expected to spend time practicing and studying between training sessions. Access to the 200-hour online training course material is included in this program and will be used as a syllabus.
You have one year from the last day of the 6 week training intensive to complete all self-study assignments.

*Upon completion you will receive a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate of completion from Lyn Kehoe Power Yoga.
You will also be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 level.

Course Curriculum and Requirements

Group Training Sessions
You are required to attend all in-person sessions as outlined on the schedule. 

Functional Anatomy of Yoga-Online Self-Study Course
This online course will focus on a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of human anatomy. It will cover basic terminology as well as major anatomical systems, sections of the body, and their components.
After completing this course you will have a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of human anatomy pertaining to safe and functional movement.
This course includes reading assignments, video tutorials and written testing.

Module 2: Connective tissue and the muscular system
Module 3: Skeletal system
Module 4: Nervous system
Module 5: Digestive system 
Module 6: Endocrine system
Module 7: Cardiovascular (circulatory) system
Module 8: Respiratory system and breathing
Module 9: Foot and ankle
Module 10: Knee joint
Module 11: Hip joint
Module 12: Pelvis
Module 13: Spine

Teaching Yoga: Techniques and Methodology

-Leading a Yoga Class:
Upon completion of your 200-hour training, you will have the tools and confidence to lead a 90 minute power vinyasa style yoga a class.
Topics that will be covered include:
-alignment principles and the basic alignment for primary yoga asanas
-cueing techniques to lead and support all levels of students
-sequencing formula for a power vinyasa yoga class and a standard 90 minute sequence to be used as a blueprint to build future class plans
-how to “read” a student’s pose and offer appropriate modifications
-basic hands-on assists
-techniques and teaching strategies to lead an all levels yoga class
-practicum: each trainee will spend time leading other trainees through the power yoga sequence

-Theming: Taking Students Beyond the Physical:
Gain the ability to teach philosophy on that mat in a way that is relevant and understandable to all yoga students.
-explore what motivates you as a teacher and which philosophical concepts you most connect with
-learn the formula for theming
-learn mental practices that can be applied in class that support each Yama and Niyama
-understand how to connect the dots of practicing yoga philosophy on the mat to taking it off the mat
You will be required to write a theme based on one ethical concept studied in the Yamas and Niyamas course.

History of Yoga – Online Self-Study Course

-An Introduction to the History and Philosophy of Yoga Online Course
This course includes viewing of online videos for each unit followed by a review quiz to reinforce the study material. 
     Study topics include:
          -What is Yoga
          -The Early History of Yoga
          -The Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali
          -The Bhagavad Gita
          -Tantra and Medieval Hatha Yoga
          -Yoga in the Modern World

Yoga Philosophy

-The Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali
This course includes:
-required reading and written assignment using The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali book and study guide by Dana Baptiste

-Living Your Yoga – The Yamas and Niyamas (Yoga’s Ethical Principles)
Journaling For Self-Exploration:
-along with required reading, there will be weekly journaling and a reflection paper written for each yogic principle
You will explore:
-what are the Yamas and Niyamas
-how to apply each principle in your daily life
-how to apply and theme each principle in a yoga class

Practice

A regular, personal practice is one of the most important tools you will have as a teacher. You are required to complete 35 group class practices led by Lyn. A class pass is included in the cost of the training and you are encouraged to participate in as many group yoga classes as possible during the weeks of your scheduled training program. You will be able to complete the remainder of your 35 class requirement attending in-studio classes, live-streaming via Zoom or utilizing the On-Demand classes that you will have access to as part of your training. Your studio class pass is active until 12/1/2023.

     *Audit Only Option: The unlimited class pass with the audit option is for the length of the training schedule (6 or 8 weeks); it will begin on the first day and will expire on the last day of training. Current pass holders can pause their pass during the course of the training. When you choose the audit only option, you will not be required to practice teach or submit any online or written assignments. It is encouraged that you complete reading assignments in order to participate in group discussions.

Tuition and Refund Policy:

If you decide to cancel your registration before the start date, as long as it is at least 30 days before the start, you will receive a refund minus $250 to cover the cost of accumulated fees. However, you can apply this amount towards future training. No refunds or credits after this deadline.

No refunds or credits after the program starts. If the studio cancels the program before it begins, you will receive a full refund, including the application fee and deposit. 

Attendance Policy and Program Requirements:

Attendance at all training sessions is required. Along with the in-person training sessions you will be required to complete self-study assignments between training sessions. These assignments include video tutorials, reading and written assignments. You will be expected to spend time practicing on your mat. 

We do understand that sometimes there are conflicts. If you know in advance of any training dates that you have a conflict with, please contact the program director to discuss options. 

In the case of any emergency absences, please notify the program director immediately.

If you have a medical circumstance or other extraordinary circumstances that would require a leave of absence, you will be able to join a future training to complete your requirements. A doctor’s note stating reason for absence and estimated time of absence is required. You must restart your training within 12 months. Please note, future trainings are not guaranteed and refunds are not given due to unavailability of future trainings.
