Practitioners:
Do you feel yoga has helped you in your day to day life, but want to understand the philosophical teachings beyond the surface?
Are you ready to explore your yoga practice beyond the physical exercise of poses?
Teachers:
Are you a yoga teacher who struggles with integrating philosophical concepts into your classes? Or would like to find ways to present yoga philosophy in a more relatable way?
The philosophical component of yoga transforms it from a mere exercise routine into a comprehensive lifestyle. As a teacher, when you weave the philosophical component into your yoga classes, you are laying a foundation for your students to cultivate a lifelong commitment to the ancien
Join Lyn for an online 10-part exploration of the guiding principles of yoga. Through practice, meditation, and self-reflection you will transform your practice (and teaching) – both on your mat and off.
Each unit will focus on a specific Yama or Niyama (ethical principle) and includes a short audio tutorial, prerecorded asana practices, journal prompts, and a guided meditation. As well as, a section dedicated just for yoga teachers.
Though it is broken into monthly units of study, you can choose to move through them at any pace you prefer.
Inquiry –
You will be introduced to the monthly focus with a brief audio tutorial.
Lyn will give you an overview of the yogic principle you will be exploring in order for you to gain a complete understanding, along with ways to integrate them into your day-to-day life. You will be encouraged to spend time reflecting and journaling on the principle throughout the month. Though, journaling is always optional.
Journal prompts are included to get you kickstarted with that months self-inquiry and exploration.
Asana –
Each month includes a recorded 60 to 75-minute prerecorded class practice designed around the focus of the current month. These recordings are appropriate for all levels of practice.
Along with your video practice, tips on how to apply the month’s specific philosophical theme while practicing on your mat are included.
Each month includes three extra bonus prerecorded practices. There are a total of 41 practices.
Meditation –
A short guided meditation is included each month.
Meditation is also a pathway to self-knowledge. Through the process of learning to quiet distracting thoughts you can begin to filter out misconceptions and misinformation clouding your reality. The ability to focus the mind can help with improving the quality of your life by learning to manage anxiety and stress.
Teacher Sections –
This section includes various methods and tips on how to integrate the Yama or Niyama of study into your classes. These include both verbal and tangible techniques and methods. For example, how to use proprioception and interoception to teach non-attachment or using Mountain pose to explore contentment. A class opening sample script is included for each Yama and Niyama.
At the end of each unit (total of 10), you will be asked to check a box and submit a form confirming you have completed and reviewed all content. The final unit asks you to share your experience and answer a couple of course review questions.
