This program is designed to specifically support your growth as a vinyasa yoga teacher.

Many advanced trainings incorporate elective type courses that cover a plethora of yoga styles and topics. Which can be helpful in some ways, but perhaps not very helpful when it comes to specifically teaching vinyasa style yoga classes.

In this advanced training program, you will build on the skills that you learned in your initial 200-hour program. Each course is designed to help expand your knowledge in a way that can be directly applied and put to use in teaching your vinyasa classes.

We build on the LKPY 200-Hour program with advanced anatomy, more in-depth hands-on assists, addressing common imbalances, how to integrate more complex poses into your power vinyasa class, Sanskrit, meditation and a deep dive into the study
and application of The 8 Limbs of Yoga – and how to integrate them into your classes.

This training is open to anyone who is certified at the 200-hour level.
(Your 200-hour certification does not need to be with LKPY)

Each trainee receives one-on-one mentoring with Lyn throughout the training.
Under Lyn’s guidance you will have an opportunity to refine your teaching
skills based on your individual needs. Mentorships begins at the start of the first module.

While this is an in studio program, the option to join all sessions via Zoom is available.
Please email Lyn for more information if you are interested in remote participation.

______________________________________

Prerequisite:
This program is for those who are already certified at the 200-hour level.
This advanced training will build on the Lyn Kehoe Power Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training.
For those who did not receive their 200-hour certification from LKPY, you will need to schedule your first mentoring session prior to the first training session to review the basic foundation and principles that the 200-hour program is built upon.

Module One: Uplevel Your Teaching

Advanced Anatomy Online Course
This course will be used as support for “Taking Assists to the Next Level.”
It will build on the the fundamental anatomical concepts covered in the 200-hour training anatomy course. We’ll use that foundation to follow the anatomy through the process of building asanas. We’ll deconstruct seemingly complex asanas and look at their parts and pieces through the lens of anatomy. This course will provide you with information and tools to understand why you might be observing a particular pattern in your student’s practice. At the completion of this course, you’ll have a better understanding of how to help your students build the patterns they need to evolve their postures in a healthy way.
Topics include:
-anatomy of forward bending, variations and common patterns
-anatomy of external and external hip rotations in lotus pose
-anatomy of twisting and variations in seated twist
-anatomy of arm balancing and taking arm balancing upside down
-anatomy of backbending and setting the patterns for upward facing dog

Taking Assists to the Next Level
We will build on the use of verbal, directive and moderate corrective assists studied in the 200-hour training by learning proper use of aligning, supporting, guiding and deepening hands-on assists.
Along with the group training sessions, trainees will observe and assist Lyn during a group class.
-philosophy of hands-on assists and the ethics of touch in a yoga class
-the seven principles of hands-on assists
-how not to touch
-the five steps for hands-on assists

-techniques to apply assists appropriately in a group class
-4 class observations
-4 class assists

-learn poses and movements to address specific imbalances
-learn how to use specific poses and movements to assess a student and determine possible imbalances
-learn how to integrate poses and movements that help balance imbalances into the standard power vinyasa class sequence
-included in this course will be a segment on modifications and other techniques for practicing power vinyasa yoga during pregnancy

The Art of Teaching Simple to Complex Poses in a Power Vinyasa Class
-learn how to include more complex poses in a vinyasa style class without breaking the flow and without leaving any student behind no matter level of individual experience
-learn how to sequence for a peak pose without straying from the power vinyasa sequencing formula
-the 5 steps in teaching simple to complex
-how to break down a complex pose

Module Two: Deep Dive Into Philosophy

Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers Online Course
-history of Sanskrit
-learn basic Sanskrit grammar
-explore the name and meaning of common yogic postures and review the main categories -anatomy, animals, objects, sages & deities, characteristics and numbers
We will put your knowledge to practical use in training sessions:
-learn and practice how to integrate Sanskrit terms into a power vinyasa class in a way that makes it understandable for all students

The 8 Limbs of Yoga
-an in depth study of each of the 8 Limbs of Yoga
-The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali online course will be used to support this segment of training
-how to practice and apply each of the Yamas and Niyamas in professional life, including the student-teacher relationship – this unit requires regular journaling and will continuing the initial self-study that began in our 200-hour training and take a deeper dive into self-study and self-reflection on these principles
-help students have a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy by integrating the 8 Limbs into a yoga class using special sequencing, specific poses/movements, mental practices and other teaching techniques – this unit goes beyond the initial intention setting during opening integrations that we covered in our 200-hour training, you will learn to go beyond theme setting with words and verbal reminders and study practical applications that can be integrated into a power vinyasa class to support these concepts; along with the Yamas and Niyamas, we will learn how to integrate the other 6 Limbs

Meditation
-development of a regular meditation practice
-how to lead students in a guided meditation
-learn guided meditations for the Yamas, Niyamas and the other 6 Limbs

Mentoring Module:

Mentorship recreates the traditional yoga teacher training model based on a strong and trusted relationship between mentor and student. I am a strong believer, based on my many years training teachers, that a mentor style relationship is an important ingredient on the path to yoga teaching. While group training is an important part of the training process, everyone learns differently and has unique challenges and talents. Mentorship gives each trainee an opportunity for individualized support specific to their needs.

6 One-On-One Mentoring Sessions with Lyn
Trainees will receive feedback and support on their progress. Specific needs, questions and concerns will be addressed at these meetings. Sessions will be scheduled individually for each trainee.

Monthly Practice Teach Sessions
Monthly practice teach sessions are for you to focus on practice teaching for your specific needs. You can choose to lead other trainees in specific techniques, sequences, and poses that they feel they need practice with.
